Derek Brian Chase of Eldred, PA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 19 at the age of 49. 

          Born on July 25, 1972 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY, he was the son of Irvin and Sandra (Sunseri) Chase of Eldred, PA.   

          Derek was a graduate of Otto-Eldred High School and Jamestown Community College. 

          He worked at Blumenthal’s in Olean, NY as a computer tech and later as an Apple Computer Tech through Erie One BOCES of  West Seneca, New York.  

          Derek cherished the time spent with his daughter, her husband and their new baby boy.  He was very active in sports and activities with his friends and family, He loved four-wheeling, motorcycle riding, kayaking, snow boarding, playing darts, pool, and softball in local leagues, and attending Heavy Metal concerts.  He especially loved helping others and his generosity will be carried on through his daughter and grandson. 

He is survived by his daughter Tora (Cody) McCartney and his new grandson, Chase Michael McCartney of Colorado Springs, Colorado, his sister Valerie (David) Ward of Bradford, PA, his brothers Allen (Heather) Chase, Chris Chase, and Corey Chase of Eldred, PA, his nieces Meagan Chase of Pittsburgh, PA, Brittany Chase and Holley Chase of Eldred, PA, and Alexis Ward of Bradford, PA, his nephews Scott Chase, Brandon Chase, and Nicholas Ward of Bradford, PA and Michael Chase of  Los Angeles, California.  

 He was predeceased by a sister-in-law and good friend Kristie Chase.  

Friends will be received at Frame Funeral Home, Eldred on Thursday (September 23rd, 2021) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and again at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am, at which time a casual celebration of life will be held.  A meal will be held for family and friends at the Eldred Borough Fire Hall immediately following the celebration of life. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local SPCA, as he loved animals.

My condolences to the Chase family and to all our friends and families who knew Derek, I went to school with him a long time ago but he always kept in touch even after all these years ... Derek will be sorely missed by the class of 90! Again - we are sorry for our brother to leave us so unexpectedly and pray for his family and friends to ease you in this time of need.

I’ve known Derek since first grade we grew up together on Edson St that was one heck of a gang. We all kinda grew apart but we were all still friends. You sure will be missed dude!!!! Rest In Peace buddy!!! 🙏🏻
