James T. Barlet loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather
Eldred- James T. Barlet, 78, of Burris Rd., passed away Monday (May 5th, 2014) at Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport following a brief illness.
Born May 30th, 1935 in Warren he was a son of Jesse Tod and Dorothy Casses Barlet. On September 7th, 1991 in St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Westons Mills he married Martha L. Brudage, who survives.
James was a graduate of Eldred High School. He had resided on Burris Rd. since 1970.
Mr. Barlet was had served with the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1957 in Tripoli. He was employed by the Quaker State Refinery for 10 years and later owned and operated the Eldred Tastee Freeze, the Video Gallery in Smethport and also Portville Storage.
James loved collecting and working on antique cars. He was also a great animal advocate and has rescued several dogs, most recently his dog Abby.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Aimee Barlet of Trinity, Florida; a grandson, Garrett Horta; 2 step-sons, Timothy (Cathy) Hoffmier of Dillsburg, PA and Mark (Marie) Hoffmier of Twin Falls, Idaho; 3 step-daughters, Kathy (Gary) Stone of Underwood, Indiana, Kelly (Terry) Madison of Wysox, PA and Kami (Ken) Fisher of Savanna, Georgia; several other step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; a sister, Diane (Pete) Haskins of Turtle Point; and a nephew, Shane Haskins of Port Allegany.
Friends may call Thursday (May 8th, 2013) from 6 to 8 pm at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred where funeral services will be held Friday at 12 noon with the Rev. Jay Tennies officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to an SPCA of the donor’s choice.
