JoAnne Haynes, loving wife, mother and grandmother
ELDRED, Pa. — JoAnne M. Haynes, 84, of Route 446, passed away Sunday
(July 17, 2016) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born April 11, 1932, in Bolivar, N.Y., she was a daughter of Raymond
and Marion Newton Mesler Sr. On Jan. 23, 1949, in Bolivar, she married
Robert H. Haynes, who survives.
JoAnne attended Bolivar schools, and after being married, she moved to
Eldred, where she spent the rest of her life.
Mrs. Haynes was employed by Westons Shopper City, Kresge’s Five and
Dime in Olean, N.Y., and Odds and Ends in Allegany, N.Y., as well as
Driving School Van for Todd’s in Eldred. For more than 20 years, along
with her husband, she owned and operated Bob and Jo’s Diner in
She was a member of the First Church of God, Eldred; a former member of
Keystone Chapter 2, Order of the Eastern Star of Duke Center; and the
Lady Rebekah Lodge 526 of Eldred.
JoAnne enjoyed scrapbooking, making and painting ceramics, hooking
rugs, and quilting with the Ladies Sunshine Group at the First Church of
God, Eldred, as well as gardening. Later in life, she enjoyed attending
Music in the Park with her friends and getting out and doing activities
with her friend, Dawn.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Marilyn (Tom)
Hilliard of Pillager, Minn.; two sons-in-law, Don Foley and Randy Ours
Sr.; six grandchildren, Jodie Newham, Kelley (Dan) Duemke, Michael
(Nancy) Foley, Randy (Janine) Ours Jr., Jacie (Gene) Glover and Mark
Foley; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two
brothers, Raymond Mesler Jr. and Phillip Mesler; two sisters, Audrey
White and Bernice Clark; as well as her special friend and caregiver,
Dawn (Bob) Bean.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Madilyn Foley and Jacquelyn
Friends may call today (Tuesday, July 19, 2016) at the First Church of
God, Eldred, from 2 to 3 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be
held with Layperson Gregory Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be in
Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God or the
American Cancer Society.
