W. Boyd Palmer

Eldred- W. Boyd Palmer of Route 446 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday (June 01, 2021) surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. Born on February 20, 1939 he was the son of George F. and Margaret Wagner Palmer. On October 22, 1960 at the McCrea Brook Wesleyan Church he married Janice Goodman who survives. He was a 1957 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School and he served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963. Boyd had been employed by First National Bank of Eldred, which then transitioned to the Hamlin Bank and Trust Co. for 44 years, and retired in 2001 as a head teller. Mr. Palmer was a longtime member of the McCrea Brook Wesleyan Church where he also served as a trustee, Sunday School treasurer, and song leader. He also spent 25 years as a member on the OttoEldred School Board. He also was an avid hunter, and loved riding ATV’s, tinkering in the garage and singing and playing the guitar. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Dan (Dawn) Palmer of Olean, NY., and Wes (Kim) Palmer of Erie; Two daughters Melanie Palmer of New Mexico, and Rhonda (Frank) Smith of Wellsville, NY.; Three sisters Norma (Eugene) Allegretto of Bradford, Jean Harris of Wellsboro, and Becky O’Brien of Eldred.; 13 grand-children; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son David Palmer in 1982; one grandson Andrew Boyd in 2005 and one great grandson Tucker Dodd, as well as four brothers, Frederick, John, George and Glenn Palmer. Friends may call at the Frame Funeral Home on Friday (June 04, 2021) from 6pm to 8pm and Saturday (June 05, 2021) from 10am until the time of the funeral service which will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. Roy DeVries officiating. Burial will follow in Lamphier Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mental Health Association of Cattaraugus County or donor’s choice.
