Vera Y. Smith

SMETHPORT – Vera Y. Smith, 84, of Route 46 passed away Tuesday (Aug. 1, 2023) at Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y.

Born Dec. 20, 1938, she was a daughter of Floyd and Florence Canfield. On March 31, 1999, she married Larry D. Smith, who survives.

Vera was a homemaker and was formerly employed as a bartender many years ago at the Star in Bradford.

She loved to cook, travel and spend as much time as she could with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two brothers, Virgil and Vircil Canfield; one sister, Virginia Allen; eight grandchildren, Amanda Arnold, Tasha Crawford, Jerry Bickford, Mindy Nichols, Dustin Holley, Crystal Arnold-Himes, Sam Clark and Chance Clark; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Wes Arnold Jr., and two daughters, Kay Bickford and Laurie Sullivan.

Friends are invited to attend visitation 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, (Aug. 7, 2023) with a memorial service immediately following at Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, with Pastor Max Simms officiating.
