Thomas L. 'Pops' Wilcox
FRANKLINVILLE — Thomas L. “Pops” Wilcox, 79, of Chestnut Street, passed away on Sunday (March 14, 2021) at home surrounded by his family.
Born on June 15, 1942 in Bradford, Pa. he was a son of Gerald L. and Neva A. McCutcheon Wilcox. On July 7, 1962, in Beaufort, N.C., he married Mary “Penny” Bess, who survives.
Tom was a graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. Mr. Wilcox was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and a veteran of the Vietnam War, retiring as a staff sergeant.
He was then employed by Quaker State, which later became Allied Signal, at both the Emlenton and Farmers Valley locations, where he retired as plant manager.
Tom was a longtime member, and former commander, of the American Legion Post 887 of Eldred. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed woodworking and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and working on vehicles.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Dennis (Tammy) Wilcox of Eldred, Pa. and Robert L. (Ada) Wilcox of Durant, Okla.; two daughters, Tammy (Jerry) Peterson of Bradford and Sherrill (Pete) Sciortino of Franklinville; six grandchildren, Bruce (Jamie) Wilcox, Ethan Peterson, Christina Wilcox, Jeana Skiver, Kyle (Kendra) Wilcox and Aaron Wilcox; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald J. (Nancy) Wilcox of North Carolina; two sisters, Marcia Holley of Rixford, Pa. and Jamie (Herm) Glover of Rixford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday (March 16, 2021) at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to a veterans charity of the donor’s choice.
