Sandra Barnish loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother
Smethport- Sandra L. Barnish, 71, formerly of Eldred, passed away Saturday (July 26th, 2014) at the VA Western New York Healthcare System.
Born November 26th, 1942 in Bradford, PA she was the daughter of the late Roy and Katheryn Beightol Nuhfer. On Febuary 27th, 1963 she married Al Barnish Jr. who survives.
Mrs. Barnish was a 1960 graduate of Otto–Eldred High School and served with the U.S. Navy from January 1960 to January 1963. She had been employed at the Olean General Hospital as a nurse assistant from 1981 to 2005, and later as a cashier at Wal-Mart from 2004 until her retirement in 2005.
When living in Eldred she was a member of the Eldred United Methodist Church. She enjoyed filing and organizing and going to yard sales.
Surviving in addition to her husband, and her stepmother, Jeanne Nuhfer of Mansfield, OH; are 1 son, Tony (Billie) Barnish of Smethport, 2 daughters, Shirley (JoLynne Leet) Wolf of Smethport, and Donna (Matt) Morris of Smethport, PA; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Robert (Margaret) Nuhfer of Virginia, Frank (Cheryl) Nuhfer of Maryland, and Ronald (Linda) Nuhfer of Bradford; 3 sisters, Patricia (Bob) Pratt of Eldred, Carol (Chuck Flagg) Jordan of Olean and Katheryn (John) Wojtanik of Olean.
She was preceded in death by a son, Al Barnish III in 1993; a granddaughter, Savannah Barnish in 1987 and a sister, Darlene Nuhfer in 2005.
Friends may call Wednesday (July 30th, 2014) at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred from 2 to 4 pm, at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Jay Tennies officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
