Eldred Beloved father and grandfather
Robert Cummings "Gummy", 75, passed away on Sunday (December 22, 2018) at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a long illness.
Born March 04, 1943, in Olean. He was a son of Leslie and Freda Johnson Cummings. On August 21, 1971 in Eldred, he married Joann E. Simar who passed away in 2014.
He was a 1962 graduate of Otto Eldred High School and was a lifetime resident of Eldred. For 40 years he was employed at Clark Brothers which later became Dresser Rand in Olean until his retirement in 2005. He had also been employed at the Eldred Theatre.
He was a life member of the Eldred Borough Fire Department where he was past fire police captain, and ambulance driver. He was a life member of the Eldred Conservation Club where he had held several offices and was a hunter safety instructor. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, skeet shooting, trapping, fishing and enjoyed camping at Foote Rest Campsite for many years. He also loved woodworking.
Surviving are two sons Kevin (Angela) Cummings, and Robert Cummings of Eldred, one daughter Kimberly (Tim) Stead of Eldred, ten grandchildren Joshua, Shawn and Nathan Barnish, Abigail and Nicholas Cummings, Brett and McKenna Taggart, Devin, Ava Jo, and Samuel Cummings. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother William Cummings in 1999.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family and burial will be in Annin Creek Cemetery. Funeral arraignments are under the direction of the Frame Funeral home.
