Rex L. DeGolier
ELDRED, Pa. — Rex L. DeGolier, 61, of Barden Brook, passed away
Thursday (July 7, 2016) at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Aug. 5, 1955, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Harry and Anna Ross
DeGolier. In December of 1985 in St. Raphael’s Church in Eldred, he
married Mary Wilson, who survives.
Rex was a 1973 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. He was a lifelong
resident of the family farm on Barden Brook.
In addition to owning and operating the family farm, he was employed by
Hysol in Olean and Ethan Allen Furniture Co. in Eldred, as well as the
Gold Eagle Hotel. Rex was a professional horse show judge in the
tri-state area and trained and showed horses for many years.
He loved hunting with the family and spending time with his grandkids
on the farm.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Michael Lisek of
Eldred, Kate Carter of Northampton, Mass., and Ross DeGolier of Eldred;
seven grandchildren, MiKayla Burgess, Stone Lisek, Gage Lisek, and Zya,
Ayana, Nazara and Azaryn DeGolier; two sisters, Ann (Keith “Dewey”)
Marsh of Eldred and Carrie (Jeff) Funk of Smethport; as well as his many
nieces and nephews with whom he had a close relationship.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. today (Saturday, July 9, 2016) for a
celebration of life at the home of Ann and Keith Marsh, directly across
from the DeGolier farm at 508 Barden Brook Road, Eldred.
