Penny VanCamp Obituary

Eldred-Penny VanCamp – a ray of sunshine to everyone. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to all. She proudly held the title “Grammy,” given to her by her grandchildren.

She was surrounded in love by her family as she departed this world on February 4, 2022, at the age of 54.

Penny was born in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania on March 15, 1967, to Marjorie and Lewis Ryder, of Eldred, Pennsylvania.

She was a 1985 graduate of Otto Eldred High School, and had been employed as a paralegal at Kehoe and DeRose Associates for many years.

Penny was the most amazing and devoted wife to her husband, Gregory VanCamp, who were married on December 24, 1983 at the Duke Center Free Methodist Church. She married the love of her life and best friend on the coldest day of the year in the middle of a blizzard, as she would jokingly say. From that day forward they lived a life honoring and serving God raising their two children in Eldred, Pennsylvania. Penny was the epitome of the best mother who gave her all to her children, Keith and Ashley.

Penny was known for her infectious smile and big heart, patience, work ethic, dedication to her career and her devotion for her Lord Jesus. Her hobbies included taking walks with Greg, going on beach vacations with her family, shopping with her daughter, going to the movies, singing praise and worship, attending church, but most importantly being present with her family. She was a devoted fan to her Pittsburgh Steelers, even in the tough times. She was an avid animal lover as her pets were an important part of her family. She was most proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much quality time with them as she could.

She is survived by her husband of thirty eight years, Gregory VanCamp, son Keith and Kayla VanCamp, daughter Ashley and Adam Farr, and four grandchildren she

affectionately referred to as her sun, moon, and stars Grady, Tessa, Lincoln, and Ledger. Also surviving are two brothers Myron and Dean Ryder and several in-laws and extended family members that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie and Lewis Ryder, an infant sister Connie, as well as her mother-in-law Lorraine VanCamp.

A viewing will be held in Eldred at the First Church of God on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 pm. Services will be held at the First Church of God on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:00 am followed by a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo New York or local animal shelters.
