ELDRED, Pa. — Oliver Lee Hess, 71, of the Jenny-L Manor, passed away Tuesday (Oct. 27, 2015) at home following a brief illness.
Born Feb. 3,1944, in DuBois, he was a son of Oliver Perry and Helen Johnston Hess Jr.
Mr. Hess was a 1962 graduate of DuBois High School. He had resided in Eldred since 2000 and was a member of the Eldred American Legion, Post 887.
Oliver was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War as a meteorological technician. He was employed by the University of Washington in Seattle as a weather technician, as well as the U.S. Weather Bureau in Alaska, the Northwest Territory of Canada, the British West Indies and Hawaii, prior to retiring in 1994.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Robert Paul Ishman in 2000.
As per Oliver's request there will be no services held. Burial will be in the Beechwood Cemetery in Washington Township, Jefferson County.
