Geneva Kelly Shields, beloved mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother
ELDRED, Pa. — Geneva Kelly Shields, 81, of South Main Street, passed
away on Monday (May 4, 2015) at the Sena Kean Manor in Smethport
following complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Born Dec. 18, 1933, in Columbia, S.C., she was a daughter of John and
Bertha Kelly. She had attended Columbia area schools and had six
brothers and eight sisters. On March 2, 1952, in Columbia, she married
George N. Shields, who passed away on Jan. 6, 2012.
Geneva had resided in Eldred since 1953 and was a member of the Eldred
United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who prided herself on
taking care of her husband and family. She loved to laugh. She had also
taken care of many children in Eldred over the years and was a past Cub
Scout Den Mother. Geneva was an avid gardener and enjoyed collecting
small frog statues. She had cared for many elderly family members during
their later years of life. The Shields family would like to thank the
staff at Sena-Kean Manor for taking such good care of Neva during her
seven years there.
Surviving are two children, Neva’s son, Cleveland G. Shields and his
wife, Linda Dolby, of West Lafayette, Ind., and their daughter, Emily
(Navid) Sadri, and their two children, Laila and Kayvan, and their son,
Elliot Dolby-Shields; Neva’s daughter, Pamela J. (Tom Frigo) Medeiros
of Eldred and her son, Brian (Brenda) Medeiros, and their son, Ethan,
and their daughter, Alicia (Matt) Reiff, and their daughter, Avery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Frame Funeral Home,
Eldred. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (May 7,
2015) at the Eldred United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ernie Perry,
pastor, and Neva’s daughter-in-law, the Rev. Linda K. Dolby,
co-officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
Memorials may be made to the Eldred Ambulance Fund or the Eldred United
Methodist Church.
