Marie E. Jewart

ELDRED — Marie “Nana” Elizabeth Jewart, 77, of Eldred, loving mother, wife, and grandmother, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 18, 2022) following a long illness.
Born April 22, 1944, she was the daughter of Herbert and Esther Todd Carey. She was a graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. On May 23, 1964, she married Dale D. Jewart Jr. at the United Methodist Church in Eldred.
She worked several years for Attorney Christian T. Mattie III in Eldred and later as a secretary for the Otto-Eldred Elementary School. Marie was an avid reader and poet. She enjoyed taking walks with her dogs and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marie is survived by: her husband; children, James Jewart, Jamie (Brent) Schoonover, and Tracy (Marty) Marrone; grandchildren, Jessica and Dylan Schoonover, and great-grandchild, Lucas Schoonover.
Family and friends will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date which is to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, The American Cancer Society, or the SPCA in Cattaraugus County.
