Eldred, Pa. Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Friend
Lorraine O. Harrington, 86, formerly of Elm St., passed away on January 21, 2018 at the Sena Kean Manor in Smethport following a lengthy illness.
Born April 4, 1931 in Mildred, Sullivan County, Pa. she was a daughter of Paul and Caroline Papke Coleman. On June 6, 1959 in the Mildred, Pa. Lutheran Church she married Edward E. Harrington, who passed away on September 20, 2016.
Lorraine was a 1950 graduate of the Cherry Township High School in Mildred and later graduated from the Robert Packer School of Nursing in 1959 as a Registered Nurse.
She had been employed at the Ben Franklin Store in Dushore, Pa. and later while attending college there she was employed by Robert Packer Hospital. From 1959 until her retirement in 1992 she was employed in the Obstrectics Department of the Olean General Hoppital.
Lorraine was a past member, Sunday School and Catechism teacher and member of the choir and the ELCA of the Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church of Port Allegany, Pa, also a member of the Eldred Nurses Assoc., the Eldred Senior Center, where she, along with her husband, delivered Meals on Wheels, and the Red Hats Association. Lorraine enjoyed reading to the children in the Head Start Program, and had always enjoyed crocheting, reading and Preparing Sunday School lessons.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara (Joseph) Bova of Spokane, Washington and three grandchildren, Rebecca Bova, Michael (Tanna) Bova and Christopher Bova, two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Taylynn Bova, one sister, Ruth Rosenberry of Elmira, N.Y., and her adopted family, Hector and Mary Wheeler and their children, Russell and Katie of Eldred, Pa. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband and two daughters, Mary Beth and Jennifer Lynn Harrington, both in 1981, two brothers, Lewis and Gene Coleman and one sister, Judy Sargeant.
Friends may call at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred on Monday (January 29, 2018) from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at the Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Port Allegany at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Joann Piatko, officiating. Burial will follow in the Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
