Lee E. Tyler Jr. beloved father, neighbor and friend
Eldred- Lee E. Tyler Jr., 83, of Bennett St., passed away Monday (February 10, 2014) at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born September 12th, 1930 in Troupsburg, NY he was a son of Lee E. and Twila G. Burton Tyler Sr.  On May 16th, 1953 in Portville he married Helen Marie Vaughn, who preceded him in death on August 30th, 1999.
Lee was a 1947 graduate of Eldred High School and later from Riverside (California) Community College with a degree in English.  He had resided in many places in the U.S. and overseas with his wife in the military prior to moving back to Eldred in 1971.
Mr. Tyler was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served from 1948 to 1968 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, having retired as a Tech. Sargent in the Security Police.  He was a veteran of the Korean War and of the Vietnam War.  He was then employed by the Fairchild Semi-Conductor Company in San Jose, California for several years.  From 1972 to 1982 he owned and operated Helen and Lee’s Carpet Store in Eldred.  From 1982 until his retirement in 1990 he was a Prudential Insurance agent for the Eldred – Shinglehouse area.
Lee was a member of the Eldred Boro Fire Department and Auxiliary, the Port Allegany Moose Club #460, the Eldred American Legion Post 887 and a past member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Eldred.  He was a member of the Northern Star Masonic Lodge 555 F & AM of Duke Center, Keystone Chapter # 2 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Duke Center, and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. # 56 of Eldred.   He was active with the Boy Scout Troop #512 of Eldred for many years and was  a member of the Tri-Area Redevelopment Authority.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and golf, as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are 2 sons, Lee E. (Terri) Tyler III of Eldred and Alan L. (Shannon) Tyler of Frankfort, Indiana; a daughter, Lynn M. Martin of Smethport;  11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth (Gloria) Tyler of Great Falls, Montana and Donald (Pat) Tyler of Eldred; a sister, Deb (Butch) Cochran of Eldred; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Laura Taylor in 1983 and Pearl Bowers in 2010.
Friends may call Wednesday (February 12th, 2014) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred where funeral services will be held Thursday with the Rev. Glenn Hamilton officiating.  Burial will follow in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eldred Boro Fire Department or a charity of the donor’s choice.
