Kenneth Miles

SHINGLEHOUSE — Kenneth T. “Ken” Miles, 77, of Water Street, formerly of Eldred, passed away on Thursday, (May 05, 2022) at UPMC Cole in Coudersport. 

Born on June 03, 1944, he was the son of Walter and Genevive Miles. He was a long time resident of Eldred prior to moving to Shinglehouse. 

Ken served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in Vietnam serving two tours and then spent over 20 years in the Army National Guard after his service in the Marine Corps.   

In addition to his military service, Miles was employed for many years as a truck driver for several different local businesses, including the State of Pennsylvania and Duffy’s Construction in Smethport. 

He was a member of the American Legion Post # 887 in Eldred, VFW Post 2042 of Eldred, and the Coryville Church. Miles enjoyed classic cars, tinkering with small engines and tractors, hunting, fishing, music and playing his bass guitar. Most of all, Ken loved spending time with his grandkids. 

Surviving are one son, Brian Miles of Eldred; two daughters, Laura A. (Shannon) Hackett of Eldred and Kelly (Andrew) Grimes of Eldred; four grandchildren, Tylar (Olivia) Grimes, Logan Silvis, Zane Grimes and Gavin Grimes; four siblings, Michael J. (Donna) Miles of Smethport, Walter D. (Lauren) Miles of Port Allegany; Adam Meachem of Port Allegany and Stephan (Darlene) Miles of Port Allegany, And a special friend Nancy Wilber of Shinglehouse.      

Preceding him in death are his wife Judy Miles; grandson, Vincent Silvis; Theo brothers, Delbert and Larry Miles; and four sisters, Constance Tompkins, Phyllis Miles, Virginia Wenner and Rose Connolly.                   

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday May 11 with a funeral service to immediately follow with Rev. Deb Mallory officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery. 
military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post #887 of Eldred Honor Guard, at the funeral home immediately following the service
