Joseph A. "Joe" Howard

SMETHPORT, Pa. — Joseph A. “Joe” Howard, 59, of W. Main St., passed away on Sunday (Feb. 14, 2021), at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Born on July 21, 1961, in Penn Yann, he was the son of John Howard and Bertha Furman. He was married to Tammy Lynn Loveless, who survives.

He had attended Galeton area schools but has been a lifelong resident of the area. He spent his career as a self-employed general contractor.

Joe loved repairing all sorts of cars, especially his custom S10. Joe also enjoyed many activities, which included hunting, fishing and kayaking.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are six sons, Jonathan (Kimberly Stewart) Howard of Smethport, Pa., Shaun Howard of Bradford, Pa., Alvin (Erin) Loveless of Smethport, Terry Kelly of Knox, Pa., Joseph Gleason of Bradford and Brandon Martin; five daughters, Bertha (Dale) Waid of Bradford, Melissa (Mike) Butler of Bradford, Amy Alcock of Bradford, Melody Gleason of Bradford, and Staci (Robert) Hornish of Coudersport, Pa.; 31 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five brothers, Melford Howard of Limestone, Robert (Shirley) Howard of Limestone, Daniel Howard of Olean, Dwayne Howard of Port Allegany, Pa. and Adam (Lisa) Howard of DuBois, Pa.; five sisters, Mable Howard of Smethport, Mary Howard of Texas, Laura Button of Andover, Ohio, Dorothy Howard of Bradford and Kathryn (Robert) Woltz of Gerry; as well as many nieces and nephews, including his niece and caregiver, Louise “Weezie” Loveless of Smethport.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers John, Ernest and Manly Howard; and a sister, Bertha Howard.

There will be a celebration of life at noon Saturday (Feb 20, 2021) held at the Eagle Club in Bradford.
