ELDRED — James E. “Jim” Heffner, 81, of Main Street passed away Wednesday (Oct. 9, 2024) at home, following a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 27, 1943, he was the son of James M. and Beatrice Kettle Heffner. On Sept. 16, 1967, at Duke Center United Methodist Church, he married Charlene F. Moore, who preceded him in death Jan. 13, 2015.
Jim was a lifelong resident of Eldred. He also served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of Vietnam. He spent his career employed by Eldred Borough as the sewer plant operator. Prior to that, he was employed in construction and as a truck driver. He owned and operated his own automotive garage in Duke Center.
He was a member of the NRA, Eldred Conservation Club and Legion Post 887 of Eldred. Jim loved working in his woodshop doing many projects. He loved his dog, Zoey. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren telling stories.
Surviving are one son, James T. “Jimmie” (Jeannie) Heffner of Smethport; two daughters, Kristina Gunsolus of Eldred and Kimberly (Joel) Windsor of Turtlepoint; several grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday (Oct. 11, 2024) and again from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Frame Funeral Home, where funeral services will follow.
