ELDRED, Pa. — Jack V. Bickford, 90, of Larabee Road, passed away on Sunday (Feb. 21, 2021) at home, surrounded by his family.

Born Aug. 1, 1930, in Eldred Township, he was a son of Victor Joel and Mildred Elizabeth Slayton Bickford.

Jack attended Smethport Area Schools. He had resided in Niagara Falls, N.Y., most of his life, prior to moving to Smethport after his retirement. He then moved to Bradford and finally Eldred, to reside with his sister June.

Mr. Bickford was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. For many years, he was employed in a stone quarry in Niagara Falls, and later as a custodian at several Benderson Companies Malls, in the Niagara Falls area.

Jack participated in the Total Senior Care Program in Olean, N.Y., was a member of the Eldred American Legion and Vets Club in Bradford.

He enjoyed gardening, as well as mowing and taking care of the yard. He loved animals and tinkering with machinery. He also enjoyed reading, and completing adult coloring books, as well as bowling and watching NASCAR races.

Surviving are a brother, David Bickford of Emporium; three sisters, Muriel Tanner of Turtlepoint, Joann Limerick of Bradford and June Mason of Eldred, with whom he resided for many years; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Marie Smith Bickford; a brother, Donald Bickford; and three sisters, Stasha Mangel, Joyce Milliron and Patty McClain.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Roulette.
