Jack E. Ames beloved husband, father and grandfather
Bradford- Jack E. Ames, 62, of Summit Rd., passed away Sunday (January 26th, 2014) in his home following a brief illness.
Born June 20th, 1951 in Bradford, he was a son of Willard and Ellen Carnahan Ames. On February 14th, 1970 in Daytona Beach, Florida he married Karen M. Tyler, who survives.
Jack attended Smethport Area Schools. He had resided in the Aiken and Foster Township area for most of his life.
Mr. Ames served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as an Ammunition Storage Specialist in Korea. He was employed by Dresser Manufacturing in Bradford for 36 years as a welder prior to retiring in 2013.
Jack was a member of the Derrick City Seventh –day Adventist Church, as well as the Machinists Union at Dresser Manufacturing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and motorcycling.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Jack Ames Jr.; a daughter, Betty-Jean (Eugene) Hetrick of Warren; 3 grandchildren, Ariel (Joshua) Tudor, Kesha Hetrick and Dakota Hetrick, all of Warren; a sister, Judith Dunn of Bradford; a niece, Tammy (Michael) Haynes; a great niece, Cheyenne Vecellio, all of Bradford; a nephew, Terry (Toni) Dunn; as well as a great nephew, Austin Dunn, all of Warren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Ames.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Lynn Gatz officiating.
