J. Wesley “Wes” Coast
Eldred- J. Wesley “Wes” Coast, 81, of Eldred, PA passed away early Tuesday(December 16th, 2014) morning at the Bradford Nursing Pavilion, where he was cared for through a lengthy illness.
Wesley, the fourth of eight children, was born July 31, 1933 to Kenneth and Freda Coast in Van, Pennsylvania. Wesley was a 1951 graduate of Otto High School. On September 19th, 1954 he married his lifelong best friend, Jean L. Causer at the Duke Center Evangelical United Brethren Church.
Wesley acquired lifelong friendships through his work with Garrison Supply, Olean Wholesale; where he worked as a general merchandizer to local grocery stores, and also Dunkirk Ice Cream, from which he retired in 1995. Wesley was the owner of Wes’s Craft and Hobby, Tony’s Drive In, and Fox’s Pizza. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, Buck and Jim, and was most known for traveling to area churches to sing with his good friend, Gene Rote.
Wesley is survived by his wife of sixty years, Jean Coast; three children: Valerie (Paul) Ambroselli of Olean, NY; Wesley Coast of Aurora, CO; and Beth (Erik) Coletti of Duke Center, PA. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Sara, Clarice, and Dominic, and two great grandchildren: Landon, and Isaiah; a brother, Donald Coast; 3 sisters, Tirzah Parsons, Dorothy Sherman and Doris Parker.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert Coast and James Coast; and a sister, Eleanor Coast.
Friends will be received at the Duke Center United Methodist Church, on Oil Valley Road from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at the Duke Center United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, with Rev. Gary L. Sheesley officiating.
