Harold D. Miller, 88, formerly of Port Allegany, passed away on July 31, 2021 in Bowling Green, KY following a long illness.
Born on August 21, 1932 in Troupsburg, NY he was a son of Joseph E. and Clrinda May Hammond Miller. On September 1, 1961 in the Methodist Church in Port Allegany, PA he married Betty Marie Trimm, who survives. He attended Troupsburg area schools and had resided in Gleason Hollow for several years before moving to Morgantown, KY in 2001. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the Army in Korea as a corporal in the Infantry. He was later employed at the Pittsburgh Corning Glass Plant in Port Allegany for seventeen years in the glass block plant, later he was employed at Clark Brothers in Olean as a blast operator retiring in 1996 from the then Ingersoll Rand Company.
Harold had been a member, along with his wife, of the Smethport Bowling League and is currently a member of the American Legion. He loved spending time with his wife and children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, he was an avid hunter (having loaded his own shells) and he enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working, birdwatching and puzzle books.
Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty years, are four daughters, Rose Marie (Nick) Sandoval of Morgantown, Ramona (Billy) Hoffman of Gettysburg, Dawn (Douglas) James of Eldred and Bernadine (James) Galentine of Hazlehurst, thirteen grandchildren, 26 great grand children and four great great grand children, two sisters, Beulah Snyder of Northfork, PA and Arleen Reynolds of Westfield, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by a son, Duane Miller in 2012, a grandson, Dustin Wayne Miller in 1984 and a great granddaughter, Baylee Ann Shapland in2013, and a brother, Joseph Miller in 2013.
Friends may call on Wednesday (Aug. 4, 2021) at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, from 4PM until 7PM, at which time the funeral service will be held with Rev. Allen Young, officiating. Burial, with full military honors, presented by the Tioga County Honor Guard, will be in Brookfield Cemetery in Tioga County.
