Eleanor J. (Parker) Hand

Eleanor J. Hand   beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother
Eldred- Eleanor J. Hand, 92, formerly of Slack Hollow Rd., passed away Monday (April 29, 2013) at the Sena Kean Manor following a long illness.
Born July 2nd, 1920 in Olean, NY she was a daughter of Chester and Mabel Beabout Parker.  On July 30th, 1939 in Accident, Maryland she married Ernest “Roy” Hand who passed away on February 8th, 1982.
Eleanor was a graduate of Olean High School and later graduated from the Olean Business Institute as a legal secretary.  She resided in Slack Hollow and the Jenny L. Manor in Eldred for over 50 years.
Mrs. Hand had been employed by an Olean attorney, but most of her life she was a homemaker.
Eleanor was a member of the Eldred United Methodist Church as well as their Circle 5, a past Sunday school teacher and was active in the “Rummage Room”.  She was also a member of the Lady Rebecca Lodge #526 of Eldred.
She enjoyed writing poetry and had been published.  She loved gardening and flowers and was an avid reader.
Surviving are two sons, Ernest Roy Hand Jr. of Smethport and Earl “Budd” Hand  of Eldred; a daughter, Patricia (Howard) Nichols of Centerville, Pa; ten grandchildren, Anne Marie, Michelle, Kathleen, Alicia, Edward, Matthew, Vicki Lynn, Zachery, Christopher and Timothy; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gloria Ripley of Scottsdale, AZ.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Marie Hand in 1941; a grandson, Budd Hand on August 18th, 1985; a brother, Richard Parker; and six sisters, Marion Skelton, Mabelle Shear, Josephine Geuder, Dorothy Sheldon, Phyllis Muccino and Rowena Clark.
Friends may call Wednesday (May 1st, 2013) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm  at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred.  Funeral Services will be held Thursday at the Eldred United Methodist Church at 11 am with the Rev. Ron Emery officiating.  Burial will follow in McKean Memorial Park, Lafayette, PA.
