NEW CASTLE — Edna I Dutton, 84, formerly of Pierce Brook, passed away Thursday (Jan. 19, 2017) in The Grove at New Castle following a lengthy illness.
Born June 26, 1932, in Olean, N.Y., she was a daughter of Charles A. and Irene L. Hunt Wandover.
Edna was a graduate of Otto High School, attended Roberts Wesleyan College in North Chili, and received her degree in education from Mansfield University. She spent most of her life on Pierce Brook in East Smethport prior to moving to be closer to her children.
Mrs. Dutton was employed by several McKean County Schools as an art teacher. She also served several years in children’s ministry for the Free Methodist Church Campground in Kane, as well as teaching Sunday School for many years in the Free Methodist Church. She played piano and organ for the Free Methodist Church, too. Edna served on the church board and as delegate for the Free Methodist Church many times.
Surviving are three sons, Theodore (Denise) Dutton of Centreville,Va., Nathan (Cynthia) Dutton of Gahanna, Ohio , and Jonathan Dutton of Erie; one daughter, Patricia (James) Dutton-Moose; five grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Wandover in South Carolina and Charles Thomas “Tom” Wandover in Florida; a sister, Lydia (Thomas) Brockway of Eldred; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred from 2 to 4 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held. Burial will follow in Annin Creek Cemetery, Turtlepoint.
