David Burrows
ELDRED — David D. “Scrappy” Burrows, 84, of Edson St., passed away on Monday (May 24, 2021) at ECMC Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., following a brief illness.
Born March 26, 1937, in Eldred, he was a son of Leonard and Mildred Letson Burrows. On March 20, 1982, in Eldred, he married Nancy Painter, who survives. He attended Otto High School in Duke Center. Scrappy had been employed by Viko Furniture in Eldred and also several jobs in the Eldred area, and later was employed by Todd Buses. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and while serving he travelled extensively and got to see most of the world, including Germany, Korea, Nebraska, and Japan where he spent nine enjoyable years.
He was a lifetime member of the Eldred American Legion Post 887 and the Eldred VFW Post 2092. Scrappy enjoyed socializing and had many friends while riding his scooter around town.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Mark Burrows of Spokane Valley, Wash., and Steve (Shy-Anne Haney) Burrows of Tenino, Wash; two daughters, Belinda (Billy) Jordan of Pearl, Miss., Julianne (Rob) Erban of Spokane Valley, Wash.; and stepdaughter, Kimberly Backus; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; a sister, Arla Prouty of Eldred; two stepsons, Jeffery Backus and Gary Backus. He is also survived by his special niece, Tammy LaFever, who was a great help to him.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stevie Drugg; a stepdaughter, Kelly Kelly; a sister, Virginia Netzel; and a brother-in-law, Ted Prouty.
Friends may call at the Frame Funeral Home on Saturday (May 29, 2021) from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany, with full military honors presented by the Eldred Legion and VFW honor guard.
