ELDRED — Dale D. “Satch” Jewart, 81, of Park Avenue, passed away on Thursday (April 20, 2023) at Lakeview Senior Center. 

Born on June 28, 1941, in Punxsutawney, he was the son of Dale and Bernice Shirey Jewart Sr.  On May 23, 1964, in the Eldred United Methodist Church, he married Marie Carey, who preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 2022.

Dale was a 1959 graduate of Port Allegany High School, where he excelled in basketball and football. He then enlisted into the U.S. Navy. He had been employed by North Penn, which later became UGI, and worked many years in production. 

Dale loved to watch NASCAR, and enjoyed hunting and especially his Springer Spaniels. He was also a current member of the Port Allegany Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are two daughters, Jamie (Brent) Schoonover of Shinglehouse and Tracy (Marty) Marrone of Eldred; one brother, Thomas (Elaine) Jewart of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Jessica and Dylan Schoonover; and a great-grandchild, Lucas Schoonover. 

He was preceded in death by his son, James H. Jewart on Sept. 9, 2022. 

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Jim Cannistraci officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery.
