Olean, N.Y. Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother
Bertha H. Howard, 83, of N. Third St., passed away on April 11, 2018 at the Pines Healthcare Center following complications of cancer.
Born June 25, 1934 in Ulysses, Pa. she was a daughter of Dorwin and Helen Mae Broughton Furman. On March 14, 1950 in Ulysses she married John E. Howard, who passed away on February 19, 2018.
Bertha had attended Potter County schools and had resided in Potter and McKean Counties before moving to Olean. Along with being a homemaker she had been employed at various bakeries in Pennsylvania and New York. She was a member of Total Senior Care in Olean. Bertha loved hunting, shooting, fishing and baking.
Surviving are six sons, Melford Howard and Robert (Shirley) Howard both of Limestone, N.Y., Daniel Howard of Olean, Joseph (Tammy) Howard of Ft. Meyers, Fl., Dwayne Howard of Port Allegany and Adam (Lisa) Howard of DuBois, Pa. and five daughters, Mabel Howard of Olean, Mary Howard of Texas, Laura Button of Andover, Ohio, Dorothy Howard of Limestone and Kathryn (Robert) Woltz of Gerry, N.Y. and numerous Grand and Great grandchildren and a brother, Wilbur Furman of Eldred. Bertha was preceded in death by three sons, John, Ernest and Manley Howard and a daughter, Bertha Howard and three brothers, Arlow, Arnold and Manley Furman and three sisters, Lillian Brown, Margaret Rowan and Rose Orego.
Friends may call on Sunday (April 15, 2018) at the Frame Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until 2:00P.M. at which time the funeral service will be held with the Rev. Rick Price, officiating.
