Eldred- Ann L. Welch, 72, of Bennett St., passed away Tuesday (January 7, 2014) at home following a lengthy illness.
Born March 15th, 1941 in Olean she was a daughter of Harley and Ina Stiles Ford.  On September 24th, 1960 in St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Eldred she married Michael Welch, who survives.
Ann attended Eldred Schools and later graduated from Bradford LPN School.    She had resided on Bennett St. since 1966.  
Mrs. Welch served with the Women’s Army Corps in Texas.   She was employed as a nurse at Stone’s Manor in Smethport and later at St. Francis Hospital in Olean for many years until it closed.  She was then employed at the Sena Kean Manor in Smethport until her retirement in 1998.  She had worked as a private duty nurse in the area and also at the infirmary at St. Bonaventure University.
Ann was a past member of St. Matthews Church in Eldred.  She enjoyed fishing and pistol shooting, as well as knitting, crocheting, reading and playing cards.  She also enjoyed going for a ride and travelling with her family.
Surviving are a son, John Henry (Nicole) Welch of Fredericksburg, VA; 3 daughters, Denise (Harold) App of Coryville, Joni (Marshall Shunk) Welch of Smethport,  and Jennifer Kerr of Bradford; 11 grandchildren, Joshua (Amber)  App, Shawn (Candice) App and Christopher (Amanda) App, Logan Welch and Dylan Welch, Danny (Kayla) Shunk, Kevin Shunk and Adam Shunk, Tod Chaffee, Lucas Kerr and Colton Kerr;  7 great grandchildren, Keith and Hunter App, Caleb, Abigail and Emma App, Vanek App and Landon Shunk; as well as 1 sister, Shirley Crone of Eldred.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harley Ford; and 2 sisters, Thelma Welch and Margery Harvey.
Friends may call Friday (January 10th, 2014) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am with Pastor Steven Heath officiating.  Burial will follow in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eldred Ambulance Fund or to the Potter County Hospice, 1001 E. 2nd St. Coudersport, PA.
