Allen R. Fowler Jr.
Eldred- Allen R. Fowler Jr., 87, formerly of West Eldred Rd., passed away Monday (July 22nd, 2013) at the Olean General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born January 24th, 1926 in Rew, he was a son of Allen and Helen Ward Fowler Sr. He married Beverly Davis who passed away in 1951. On August 11th, 1953 in Olean he married Romayne E. Smith who passed away on February 19th, 1996.
Al was a 1944 graduate of Otto High School and was a lifetime resident of Eldred.
Mr. Fowler was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army Air Corps. He was employed by Viking Artline Furniture in Eldred; he was later employed for many years by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a switch operator. He also owned and operated Al’s TV service in Eldred for over 35 years before retiring in 1999.
He was a past member of the Eldred American Legion Post 887; he loved any and all animals.
Surviving is one son, Shawn (Debbie) Fowler of Cuba; 4 daughters, Peg (James) Johnson of Eldred, Nancy McPherson of Oxford, Pa, Sally (Shay) Tanner of Coryville, Dawn (Mike Morris) Campbell of Bolivar; as well as 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his longtime companion with whom he resided, Maureen Brennan.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Allen Fowler III on March 10th, 2000; a granddaughter, Lisa Tanner on September 6th, 2010; a brother, John Fowler; and a sister, Marjorie Fowler.
Friends may call Thursday (July 25th, 2013) at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred from 2 to 4 pm, at which time funeral and committal services will be held with the Rev. Jay Tennies officiating. Burial will follow in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
