Albert D. Jennings Jr.    Loving husband, father and grandfather
Rixford- Albert D. Jennings Jr., 91, of Rixford, passed away Friday (July 19th, 2013) following a short illness.
Born in Endicott, NY on July 19th, 1922 to the late Albert D. and Hazel Rova Jennings.  Albert married Meda Smith on December 18th, 1946 in Angelica, NY.  They celebrated their 66th anniversary last December.
He graduated from Bradford High School in 1940.  He resided in Montoursville, Pa and Allegany, NY before moving to Rixford in 1971.
Mr. Jennings was a veteran of World War Two having served with the Army Air Corp. from 1942 to 1946 as a flight engineer/ navigator on a B-26 Marauder while stationed in Okinawa, Japan and North Africa where he received the WWII Victory Medal, the Army of the Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  Prior to joining the military he worked for Lycoming Motors in Williamsport, Pa.  After the military he, along with his wife, owned and operated a dairy farm in Montoursville for 8 years.  He later operated a semi-trailer dealership and repair shop in Allegany for 10 years. He was then employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for Dow Equipment in Olean for many years before retiring in 1982.
Albert attended the Lighthouse Community Free Methodist Church.  He was a lifetime member of the Otto Twp. Fire Department and was a founding member of the Little Nippers.  He was also a member of the Smethport American Legion Bucktail  Post 138 and the Smethport VFW post 2497.
He enjoyed farming, diesel mechanics, boating, hunting and fishing.  He was known by all as a wonderful story teller, a master mechanic and loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Meda,  Al is survived by 3 sons, Donald of New Albany, Indiana, Michael (Cheryl) of Olean and William of San Antonio, Texas;  one daughter, Linda Jennings of Duke Center; 10 grandchildren and  9 ½ great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Levi Patrick Jennings in 2007, as well as 3 brothers, Clarence “Tiny”, Richard and John Jennings.
Friends may call Monday (July 22nd, 2013) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 am with the Rev. Beth Rossiter and the Rev. Glen Hamilton, co-officiating.  Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
Full Military honors will be presented by the Smethport American Legion Bucktail Bucktail Post 138 at the funeral home Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Otto Twp. Fire Department or the Lighthouse Community Free Methodist Church.
