TURTLEPOINT – Wanita H. Lane, 89, of Rock Run Road, passed away peacefully on Friday (June 18, 2021) at Elderwood Nursing Home in Williamsville, NY after a long illness. Born on Oct. 2, 1931, in Coudersport, Wanita was the daughter of the late Harvey and Louisa (Weiss) Pritt. She was a 1949 graduate of Port Allegany High School. On Feb. 3, 1951 she married Clifford G. Lane who passed away on Sept. 23, 1992. Wanita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and sang in the choir for many years. Without a doubt, Elvis was her favorite singer but her most enjoyable ‘concert’ was Woodstock, where she sat on a hill and listened from afar while ’keeping an eye’ on her eldest daughter, Linda who was attending the festival. She was a 4-H leader for many years and loved working with children. She liked attending auctions, so much so that she ended up working for a local auctioneer for many years. She was a proud, lifelong Democrat, one of her fondest memories was being invited to and attending JFK’s inauguration. She was also a member of the Eldred Red Hats Society. She is survived by four daughters: Laura (Gary) Isadore of Smethport; Lois (Jeff) Easton of Turtlepoint; Luanne Lane of Turtlepoint; and Wanita Lynch of Gifford; one son: Clifford (Audrey) Lane of Turtlepoint; seven grandchildren – Clifford (Karen) Lane; Ben Lane; Jody Isadore; Linda (Mike) Dubeck; Kara (Mike Yang) Finley; Paul Finley; Cameron (Angela) Lane; ten great-grandchildren, Raven Ahearn, Michael, Matilda “Tilly” & Bridget Dubeck; Clifford “Alex” & Oliver Lane, Hailey Learn; Flynn Kauer, Brielle & Dominic Lane; brother-in-law Francis “Pamp” Cummings and many nieces. nephews and cousins. Besides working the family dairy farm with her husband and children until 1975, she was employed by McKean County as a Jury Commissioner from 1974 through her retirement in 2010 and she was also employed by the Commonwealth of PA as a Vital Statistics Registrar from 1972 through her retirement in 2018. In addition to her husband and parents, Wanita was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lane in 1975; two sisters, Louise Kazimer and Rose Marie Cummings. Visitation will be held at Frame Funeral Home in Eldred on Tuesday (June 22, 2021) from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, with Funeral services at 11:00am on Wednesday (June 23, 2021) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
