RIXFORD, Pa. — Lester L. Shoff, 70, of Bakers Trestle Road, died on Wednesday (Feb. 10, 2021) after a brave battle with cancer.

Born March 29, 1950, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of George L. and Opal M. Hannold Shoff. He was raised with his siblings, by his grandmother, Edna V. Shoff.

He graduated from Otto-Eldred High School, in 1968, and excelled at sports. His life’s work was as a union brick layer. He was a master of his craft.

Being a dirt track and drag racer, Lester, enjoyed working at Eastbay Raceway in Florida, during the winter months. During the summer, he was often giving away fresh grown vegetables to everyone. He had a gift for gardening and canning the harvest. Lester will be sorely missed by his family and many faithful friends.

Surviving are his son, Michael Shoff Bradt of Moncks Corner, S.C.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Susan C. (James) Krall of Derrick City and Pamela J. (Gene) Trask of Smethport; and several nieces and nephews. In the last several years, he was reunited with his life-long love Mickie Wilcox Holly, who was selfless in her devotion to Lester’s care.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Steven Shoff in 2003; and a niece, Emily Krall in 2007.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions there will be no services held at this time. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park in Lafayette.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or American Cancer Society.

My condolences to the family for your loss.
I remember Lester and Mickey as a couple in high school. Upon returning to Pennsylvania I re-connected with Lester at Bisett in Bradford, as he rented equipment to do jobs and help friends.
He was always someone to count on when he was needed.
I will miss the conversation.

Please accept my condolences. I was shocked when I saw his obituary. Lester was one of those guys who seemed to be indestructible. His free spirit and devil-may-care attitude was something to envy. He was also one of the most athletic individuals I was associated with. The Lester I knew from our younger days and the Lester I was fortunate to reconnect with the past couple years were both the same -- one heck of a guy.
Mickie, Sue and Pam, and all his relatives and close friends, you all have my sympathy.
RIP, Lester.

GRIEF is really just love...It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot.
All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes,
The lump in your throat and in that hollow part of your chest.
GRIEF is just love with no place to go.
You never know how STRONG you are until being STRONG is
The only choice you have.
When we are weak....HE is strong. Part of us is gone....but not forgotten.
