Kay Amster, 81, of Moody Hollow Road, passed away on Tuesday (May 5, 2020) at the Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born on Sept. 25, 1938, in Moody Hollow, she was a daughter of Richard R. and Bertha Cochran Milliron. On Aug. 22, 1964 in the Coryville EUB Church, she married Garry Amster, who passed away on Oct. 10, 2001.

Kay was a 1956 graduate of Otto High School in Duke Center and later graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business College in Buffalo, N.Y. She had been employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington for several years, and after her marriage was a homemaker, and later owned and operated her parents  business, the Coryville General Store and Gas Station, until her retirement.

Kay was a longtime member of the Coryville Church of Faith, and a member and past Worthy Matron of the Phoenix Chapter No. 15 OES of Smethport. She was an avid bowler, having participated in leagues in the Gateway Lanes in Smethport.

Surviving are two sons, Mark (Sheila) Amster of Smethport and Greg Amster of Coryville; two grandchildren, Jacob Amster of Smethport and Kayla (Frank Tortora) Amster of Rochester, N.Y.; one brother, Max (Linda) Milliron of Coryville; two sisters, Carolyn (Don) Russell of Coryville and Karen (Jack) Jeannerette of Duke Center; and a sister-in-law, Lois Milliron of Kennebunk, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard “Dick” Milliron in 2006 and Donald Milliron in 2012 and his wife, Nancy Hosmer Milliron in 2008.

Due to the present health situation in the United States, the family will conduct a private funeral service with the Rev. Carmen Wood officiating. Burial will be in Moody Hollow Cemetery in Coryville.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Coryville Church of Faith or to the Phoenix Chapter No. 15 OES of Smethport.
