Wanda E. Spencer, 92, formerly of Duke Center, passed away on April 14, 2018 at the Hospice of Charles County facility in Waldorf, MD
Born on March 15, 1926 in Torch, MO she was a daughter of Clarence and Edith Lawson Mounts.  On September 18, 1944 in Peoria, Ill. she married Eugene Spencer who passed away on December 10, 1984.
She was a 1942 graduate of the Blodgett, MO high school and had lived in Wrights Corners, Pa before moving to Duke Center in 1958.  In 2011 Wanda moved to LaPlata with her daughter, Patricia.  She had been employed for 18 years at AVX Corp. in Olean and from 1957 until 1984 she owned and operated, along with her husband, Spencers Red and White Superette in Duke Center.
Wanda had been a member of the Duke Center United Methodist Church and a member of it’s Ladies Missionary Society, a member and past treasurer of the Eldred Senior Center.  She loved playing cards and snowmobiling.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia App of LaPlata and Pamela (Donald) Burroughs of Portville, N.Y. and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one brother, Larry Mounts of Florida.  Wanda was preceded in death by a son, David Spencer in 1975, a son-in-law, Jon App in 2004 and two brothers, Norman and David Mounts and two sisters, Helen Watson and June Ahten.
At Wanda’s request there will be no public services and burial will be in the McKean Memorial Park in Lafayette, Pa.

Wanda was such a wonderful person. And when I think of my childhood she serves a large part of it. Neighbors, Friends , David my BFF and all our wonderful times at East Branch !! So for Wanda’s family I’m truly sorry for your loss but now how special she was to you all .She was to our family also.
