Clifford W. ‘Cliffie’ Johnston Jr.,        devoted tattoo artist

ELDRED, Pa. — Clifford W. “Cliffie” Johnston Jr., 49, of Main Street, passed away doing what he loved, at the Ellwood City Hospital, as a result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
Born Mar. 15th, 1968, in Wellsville, N.Y., he was a son of Clifford W. and Gloria Bliss Johnston Sr.
On Sept. 3, 2011, in Eldred, he married the love of his life, Shannon Green, who survives.
Cliffie was a 1986 graduate of Bolivar Central School. He served with the U.S. Army from 1988 to 1989 and was stationed in Germany.
He was an outstanding son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
His legacy and outstanding art work will live through so many people that he has had the chance to use as a canvas for his passion as a tattoo artist.
He slated his career 22 years ago, first in Olean, N.Y. and then Salamanca, N.Y. After moving to Eldred, he co-owned Phenomenon Tattoo and Piercing with his devoted partner, Lindsay Robinson.
Cliffie was a former dirt track racer. He belonged to the Eldred Township Fire Department where he was an EMT.
He loved outdoor sports with his beloved wife and many Eldred friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife, of Eldred and his parents, of Bolivar, are his mother-in-law, Minnie (Dan) Wilber, of Roulette; father-in-law, Creg Green, of Eldred; two sons, Clifford W. “Jay” (Brittany Clawson) Johnston III, of Eldred and Jesse Saccamano, of Friendship, N.Y.; a daughter, Ashley Aumiller, of Eldred; a step-daughter, Tora (Cody McCartney) Chase, of Hawaii; one grandson, Collin Johnston, of Eldred; two brothers, Lee (Melanie) Johnston, of Richburg, N.Y. and Marvin (Michele) Johnston, of Eldred; two sisters, Jody (Scott) Atkins, of Salamanca, and Cindy (Dennis) Feldbauer, of Salamanca; as well as many nieces and nephews with whom he was very close.
Friends may call at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, from 10 a.m. to noon today (Aug. 16, 2017) at the First Church of God, Eldred, at which time funeral services will be held with the Rev. Dave Means officiating. Calling hours were also noon to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Eldred Township Fire Department or to the Eldred WWII Museum.
