Clyde Rodgers
SMETHPORT — Clyde E. Rodgers, 69, of Emerald Isle Trailer Court, passed away unexpectedly Sunday (Jan. 1, 2017) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born June 17, 1947, in Kane, he was a son of Mervin P. and Catherine L. Eck Rodgers. On April 15, 1967, he married Cheryl “Bean” Cochran, who survives.
Clyde was a 1966 graduate of Bradford Area High School. He had grown up in Bradford and resided in Duke Center prior to moving to Smethport in 1974.
Mr. Rodgers had spent his career as an over-the-road truck driver employed by several companies in the area. Since retiring, he went back to work as a part-time truck driver at Postlewait Trucking in Turtlepoint.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2497 of Smethport and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 976 of Crosby.
Clyde enjoyed guns and especially target shooting with his wife, children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating and was well known as the “Family GPS” always helping with directions and knowing the best way to get anywhere. He loved driving and maintaining his red Ford Mustang GT.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 49 years, are one son, Paul (Sherry) Rodgers of Bradford; two daughters, Bonnie (Troy) Regis of Duke Center and AmyJo (Todd) Gross of Bradford, and an adoptive daughter, Kathy Milliron of Duke Center; 11 grandchildren, Chelsea, Kortney, Travis, Curtis, Samantha, Hailea, Katelynn, Sydney, Lacey, Hannah and Hobie; three brothers, Don (Judy) Rodgers of Ranger, Texas, Carl (Sandy) Rodgers of Rixford and Stephan (Chris) Rodgers of Partlow, Va.; and three sisters, Paula (Gary) Roggenbaum of Reading, Debra (Bill) Duffy of Norristown, and Jean Hanson of Springfield, Va.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, RandyGuy Rodgers on Feb. 13, 1971.
A private visitation will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Clyde’s life at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2497 of Smethport.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hamlin Memorial Library; the Smethport Fire Department; or the Open Arms Community Church of Bradford.

Bean and family - my thoughts and prayers r with h all at this time. Clyde was such a sweet man and will be missed immensely. Only met him a couple times but he was definitely a one of a kind and gentle soul. Love u Bean and here if u need anything.
