Carl V. Irwin          Special Husband, Dad and Gramp
Eldred- Carl V. Irwin, 82, of Main St., passed away Thursday (May 31, 2012) in his residence following a long illness.
Born May 13th, 1930 in Olean he was a son of Ammon and Letha Wainman Irwin.  On December 19th, 1953 in St. Raphael’s Church in Eldred he married Dolores Drabant who survives.
Carl was 1948 graduate of Eldred High School and a lifetime resident of the Irwin homestead in Eldred.
Mr. Irwin served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a torpedo man second class aboard the U.S.S. Randolph aircraft carrier.  He was employed as a meat cutter in the Olean and Eldred areas for many years.  Later he worked as a pumper in production for Kendall Oil in Bradford where he retired from Belden and Blake in 1995.  After his retirement he was a caretaker for Rose Hill Cemetery in Smethport.
He had attended the Eldred Seventh Day Adventist Church; he was a member of the Eldred American Legion Post 887 and the Eldred VFW Post 2092.  He enjoyed mowing and taking care of his yard and standing next to his truck, he also loved taking his wife to Red and Trudy’s.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter, Becky (Norm) Milne of Eldred; three grandchildren, Jennifer Lent, Christie Lent and Eric Schoolmaster.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Irwin on April 19th, 2008; and three half-brothers and a half-sister.
Friends may call Saturday (June 2nd) from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred where funeral services will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lynn Gatz, officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Smethport.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Community Nurses Inc., 52 Davis St. Bradford, Pa 16701.

Uncle Carl was one of a kind. I am so glad I got to know him and Aunt Dolores over the last few years! We had some good laughs together and I will always remember him fondly. Love and sympathy to Dolores and family.

Delores, Becky, Eric and all family...Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and wish you strength to endure . I know how much Carl will be missed... he was always so kind, so giving, deserving of great respect... a truly beautiful soul. I was very lucky to have met him. May he rest in peace, now that his life''s journey is completed, giving you all another angel to watch over you... along with our beautiful angel Monica. Please know that I am here should you need ANYTHING or can help ease your pain, in any way!
