Eleanor Schwab
DUKE CENTER — Eleanor M. ‘Toot’ Schwab, 92, passed away on Saturday (Feb. 6, 2021).
Born March 19, 1928, in Bradford, she was a daughter of Fred W. and Florence O. Everitt Kahle. On April 3, 1948, in Duke Center, she married Fred R. Schwab, who preceded her in death on April 21, 1986.
Toot was a 1946 graduate of Otto High School, Duke Center. Along with her husband Fred, she was a lifelong resident of the Duke Center area. Toot was a lifelong humble homemaker and she dedicated much of her time to ‘professionally’ volunteering many places including the United Methodist Church at the local, district and conference level, the Eldred United Methodist Church Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and Sena Kean Manor.
She was a lifelong member of the Duke Center United Methodist Church where she taught many Sunday school classes and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed sewing, baking and crafts, was a member of Red Hat Ladies, the Keystone Chapter # 2, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Garden Study Club.
Surviving are three daughters, Rev. Sharon Schwab, Tina Crandell, and Anita (Bill) Prescott; three granddaughters, Nickole (Conal) Smith, Brigitte Prescott, and Becca (Mike) Corbett; four great-grandsons, Liam, Kayden, Jaxson and Easton; one brother, James (Barb) Kahle; one sister, Esther (Charles) Best; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Kahle; and longtime family friend and roommate, Pam Howard.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Denny Crandell; brother, Ronald Kahle; four brothers and their wives, Earl (Chad), Philip (Dulcie), Thomas (Fran), and Everitt (Louise) Kahle; and one sister and her husband, Margaret (Robert) Carnes.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
