Born Dec. 19, 1946, in Olean, N.Y., she was a daughter of Charles “Buddy” and Wildamary McInroy Leffler.

Mary Fran was a 1964 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. She then went on to receive a  bachelor’s degree in education from Mansfield University in 1968. She then studied for her master’s degree at Bowie State University and the University of Maryland.

She was a member of the Eldred United Methodist Church and was greatly interested in World War II history and also interested in collecting and sometimes selling antiques. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles in 1991 and Wildamary in 2004.
